A Lovely Walk in Brooklyn

Sunday is the perfect day to go out and explore a neighborhood less familiar. This time, with camera in hand and an open mind, I ventured to Gowanus, the area South of Brooklyn that’s full of industrial past. I got off at Smith St. station and walked around the neighborhood as well as the nearby Cobble Hill and parts of Red Hook.

Freebird Books is a used bookstore on the Brooklyn waterfront specializing in the history and culture of New York City. It is also home to Books Through Bars, a volunteer collective which provides books to prisoners around the country
