Report from Art on Paper Show

Art on Paper is one of my favorite shows during Armory Week in New York. I especially enjoy it because it has a clear focus — all 80 participating galleries feature artists who work solely with paper. I visited the show, at Pier 36 in lower Manhattan and explored each gallery’s display to highlight some of my favorite artworks.

Memories 1 by Levalet (acrylic painting on vintage envelopes)
Paper mache dog by Will Kurtz
Meticulously hand-stitched thread-on-paper art pieces by Rebecca Messier
Realistic luggage tags by Ella Freire (archival print mounted onto board and cut to shape)
Some art pieces are removed from the wall as they are sold
Paper sculptures by Nicole Pietrantoni
Etching ‘Port de la Selva III‘ by Juan Escudero
Print by Phil Shaw ‘London, New York, Paris, Moscow II‘ – maps out a major underground train line in each of these four cities using genuine book titles.
Still life by Bennett Vadnais
Ink drawings by Lourenço Providência
