The thrill of finding a new secret spot in New York City has a special place in my heart: everything from a private collection of toothbrushes to an underground jazz club, to a culture gathering in a Tribeca penthouse. This time my new discovery was in the middle of Brooklyn’s Sunset Park neighborhood where a low-key door led me to a huge and fascinating warehouse — filled with some one million comics, magazines, cassettes, and vintage pop ephemera.

The owner, Joseph Koch, has been an avid collector for the last 25 years. If there’s a rare comic you’re looking for, chances are Mr. Koch knows where to find it. New additions arrive almost every day and special sales and conventions are held from time to time.

One-dollar rack for vintage comics has constantly inventory

Because of the massive number of boxes, each is marked by the owner
