With a soft rebirth of Detroit as a creative city, mode and more makers, designers and entrepreneurs set to create a mark of their own. Detroit-based Andrew Davis, Vincent Troia and Justin Fishaw had been eyeing the right opportunity for a clothing brand and in 2016 they opened a store just off Detroit’s historic Eastern Market. SMPLFD is centered around Detroit’s street culture and interweaves a few influences from urban cultures in other cities. To boot, the trio set up a screen-printing shop in the basement of the store to collaborate and experiment on new designs. I stopped by for a chat a quick tour.
