A Walk Through the Empty Streets of Manhattan

A Walk Through the Empty Streets of Manhattan

With most New Yorkers hunkered down through the epidemic, the streets of the city have become terrifyingly quiet. It is indeed unnatural seeing one of the most vibrant cities in the world brought to a complete stop. I took a quick walk (in my full-body protective gear: cap, mask, and gloves)  to capture some of the street scenes and the shuttered storefronts (see below for a collection of closing signs from different brand stores).

Meatpacking district is usually packed with people and visitors – even rainy days
The Standard hotel
The Highline Park – closed for all
Sephora barricaded their store with flair
Aesop
Fendi chose a black barricade
Herno
David Yurman store
Grand Street in SoHo
Inside Stella McCartney store in SoHo
The massive Calvin Klein billboard won’t get enough attention this month
Amazon Fresh delivery – to those New Yorkers who can’t step out of their apartments

A collection of signs announcing store closures

As I was walking through SoHo, I captured some of the store signs that the brands had to rush and put on the windows. Click on each to see in full size.
