Greenpoint is one of the most charming places in New York City. With its refined approach of curating the most interesting culture mix it has grown as a destination for best food and pickiest design shops (see my walking exploration of Greenpoint for details). The only thing missing for me was a clear creative destination where I could go to get immersed and see the next thing in design. It looks like A/D/O — stands for the Amalgamated Drawing Office — opening this month could satisfy a big part of that craving. I stopped by at 29 Norman Ave. just before the opening for a quick tour.

A/D/O will offer free space in the common area, digital fabrication and printing tools, talks, and workshops. It will also include a Nordic-inspired restaurant for gastronomic innovation, and a design shop with picks by curators.
A $400 membership will include your own desk, secured access to the Lab and its toolshop, and project assistance from the Workspace Supervisors. In addition, you’ll have exclusive access to events, screenings and workshops.
