Massive Antique Market, Elephant’s Trunk, Opening For 2021 Season

For more than a year I’ve been missing the energy of large outdoor flea markets — a place where I could spend hours rummaging around: looking for unique vintage finds to add to my collection of curiosities. This April, I was delighted to learn that one of the largest markets of the kind, Elephant’s Trunk in New Milford, CT, is re-opening its doors again for the 2021 season. With just an hour and a half North of NYC, the market is open every Sunday from 5:30 am to 3:30 pm. I couldn’t miss the chance to go and check it out.

Be sure to arrive early. There’s plenty of parking space but the lines to park as well as lines to enter can be long. Admission is $3
Elephant’s Trunk is a true flea market and many vendors have a complete mix of items: from old books and ephemera, to records, to antique crates and mid-century decor
What a rare find — a pair of teak mirrors with backlights by Pedersen & Hansen made in Denmark in the 1960s
You have to carry what you buy yourself to your car or truck
One of my finds of the day, a 1970s Royal Sprite portable typewriter
