New Crate & Barrel Store Opens in The Historic “Palace of Trade” on Broadway

Just in time for holidays, Crate & Barrel, has just unveiled their new flagship store on 881 Broadway in the Flatiron district of New York City. Housed in a beautifully restored 1800s building that once was the largest department store in the city, the space is a massive ground floor, flooded with window light.

The newly restored building at 881 Broadway was originally built in 1868 to house Arnold Constable Dry Goods Store, dubbed “New York’s Palace of Trade”. The store was then serving the rich and elite of the city, such as the wives of Grover Cleveland, Andrew Carnegie, Thomas Edison, J.P. Morgan, and others.
The store’s tall ceilings and open floor plan allows you to see all the way to the back of the space
