Report from 2024 Shoppe Object Design Market

I visited the expanded show to understand why this design market has grown to become the most important event for shop owners and buyers.

When it first launched in 2018 Shoppe Object was small, independent trade show for design-savvy shop owners and brands. In just a few years it has grown into New York’s coolest, and most important design event to discover new, unique and hand-crafted products. This year, the show expanded beyond its main location at Pier 36 to include a second space inside the Skylight at Essex Crossing. I visited both locations to meet the makers and designers for 2024.

It’s a good idea to start your visit at the main show floor on Pier 36 — where the majority of the brands are presented
Hand blown glass designs and sculptures by Detroit-based maker Andy Koupal
Whimsical hand-embroidered brooches by French brand Macon & Lesquoy, made just in time for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris
Object Index offers a contemporary take on Japanese-made stationery for work and creative life
Corrugated packaging for Object Index custom-made for the brand
Drill bit candles by 54 Celsius, a brand based in Great Barrington, MA
Playful glassware by New York City based brand Mamo
Minimal flat shoes made with recycled water bottles by Korean brand Softromaine
Pampshade lamps handcrafted in Japan by former baker Yukiko Morita
Fragrances by Histoires de Parfums, titled “This Is Not A Blue Bottle”
A travel size bottle of Histoires de Parfums is half the size of the original bottle (literally)
You can grab quick lunch at the show at either of the two cafes on site
Every season, the organizers of Shoppe Objects select an artist to create the graphics featured on the show brochure. Here artist James Gallagher preparing cutouts for one of his collage projects. You might have seen his work in the opening titles of HBO show Sex Diaries
Flower cards by UWP Luxe
Taxi Cab LED lamp by Little Lights

After touring Shoppe Object at Pier 36 you can hop on a free bus shuttle that takes you directly to the show’s latest second location at Skylight at Essex Crossing. If you prefer to walk, it’s just 15 minutes North of the pier.
